. . . I do not feel so inclined to wright. Part of which is feeling that I do not have much to say. I had much to say but now it all seems to have run away at the end of this long day. Enough of these words though and let something useful be said.

getting help, working on my own

That has been my pattern lately and I think it is helping me. 

So much I feel I jump into things, not really knowing but that in the doing some of the peaces fall into place while others I have yet to face. Working on my home page and the zen garden that is how it has felt.

I take a moment here to comment on the progress of my homework site redesign.

Even though I was not settled on the design and structure I decided to move forward because forward is the direction to go. As I was working on the design I had the grid in mind and also I was thinking about what mark up I would use based on the reading and what I have been learning in class. Actually in working on the design and thinking about the markup I was feeling torn because I really liked the structure of my home work site for Identity Design class which is in frames but I wanted to use the new markup that I had been learning about. Finally I decided on frames it would be. Low and behold though it turns out that I can have the structure of frames using divs and the new markup that I am learning. That is thanks to Jon who kindly gave a helping hand not without some trouble though for the computer was eating files. 

So anyhow, he helped me get started. Then I tackled it on my own. Some things knowing somethings not. Some things finding. Somethings working some not. But I'v go it stated and I move forward.

Redesigning my home page brings several questions to mind.
I don't have much up which makes me feel like I am starting form scratch which is not a bad thing. First though, ok redesigning just my page for this class. But no, that dose not seem like much. So add in my other class that is on line this quarter. Then maybe with those two categories I could through in a home page and a past work page. Now it is looking like more of a site. I want it to be consistent though and my other class is in frames and I like it that was. How is that going to look transitioning from the home page which I do not intent to have as frames?

Designing like this with these categories in mind it seems a very temporary site. What happens when I have different classes next quarter. I guess I could update it and move these classes in to past work. I feel I want something better though.

I came up with a design for the home page. I had the grid in mind. I wanted it to be clean and simple with good white space and bright colors. With the design I came up with I am trying to separate the background from the site itself because I feel I had too much white space. I not really down with the look yet. I want to try designing some more. With the home page that I have I'm not sure where the seb nav would be if I needed it.

I think about:
Will the style of my design be easy to update. For example will I be easily be able to add a like to the home page and will it still look good?

I feels odd to be designing a web page for myself right now for several reasons. I've really never had a solid web page for myself. I don't really know what style I am going for right now though I've tended to go for a clean look. Also thinking about it as a homework based site or something else . . .

I was trying out some stuff with with my current web pages and am afraid I have temporarily sabotaged it. so Sharon if you go looking at my site sorry if you cont see it or find what your looking for.

a few thoughts . . .

I really like the article of web 2.0. I agreed with what was being said. I think it was easy to do so because even though the author was giving an opinion at the same time he would say to use your own judgment and to do what was write for the situation. Actually that was something that really stood out to me the fact that he was describing all of these best practices for web 2.0 but yet he was not making it absolute. What makes best use of web 2.0 is to use it when and where it works best according to the situation. 

The author talked a lot about the visual aspect of web 2.0 and it being focused, clean and simple. Something he said that stood out to me was " a web site is good not when there is nothing left to add but when there is nothing left to take away."

Coming to this class is the most I'v heard about web 2.0 and it has been interesting to here the different angle of it.

learned a bunch of the good old basics.

a good refresher.

i did a tutorial for css and found it helpful where it was understandable.

i'm working on proper file management for local and remote information.

some of my family's visiting tomorrow.

i'm going to visit some css right now.

on i go, where the going will end who knows . . .
